Hi Lark, I appreciate your Thumbs Up note! It's my first feedback on YardShare. We do have lots of wildflowers and flowering bushes and trees that grow naturally in our forest. In looking at your yards I see you have planted some wildflower varieties. Did I see Joe Pye Weed? Since we've been clearing debris and cutting down some trees to let in more light, I'm seen new things pop up each Spring. My biggest thrill was having native Trillium appear a couple years ago. Thanks for posting you Hoop House photos. Veggie gardening is my husband's passion so I e-mailed him a link so he could see what you did. What USDA zone are you? We are charted as zone 7 but the last two winters I've lost a few plants supposedly hearty in this zone. I'm now trying stick to planting the zone 5 and 6 foundation plants. May rain fall gently upon your gardens, Janet

Hi Janet, I am in Wisconsin zone 4/5. We also had to do ALOT of clearing out in the woods. Then as the light came in we also got wildflowers. Dutchman's Breeches, Marsh Marigolds, Trilliums, Violets, Geramiums, Jack in the Pulpit, Turtlehead, Genticia and Ferns. I always wished I was in zone 7...you can grow so many things. But I know the weather has been weird. Thanks for the chat. I am off to the garden to do some transplanting. Smiles, Lark

Hi Lark, how are you doing and how is the garden doing? I can not get on the hgtv rate my space. I have some kind of virus I guess. My flowers are looking great, we have had just enough rain to really get them going. I have added a few new plants to my garden, hosta, red bud tree. I would love to walk my and your gardens in person...it is so nice to meet avid, passionate gardeners. The last 3 days have been OUTSTANDING. 70-80 little humidity and a SUMMER BREEZE. We just got done eating dinner on the deck. We both love the outdoors. Smiles, Lark

Hi Bev, Did you enjoy your gardening seasons? Was it hot and dry down by you? We had some hot weather, but also had weekly rains. The gardening season was super, but ALOT of mosquitos. My husband decided to spray with Cutter's. It worked really good and I could work in the gardens everyday.I had him spray VERY EARLY in the morning, before any birds, butterflys, dragonflys and such were out. What was your favorite flower this year? Take care and smiles, Lark

My favorite flower this year was my peach color rose. It had so many blooms. You are right about the hot weather, it really played hard on everything this year. I have one flower bed that I am moving, it is too soggy. Have a great day

Hi Lark -- Thanks for you comments on "that other site" -- It's difficult to respond to questions there, so I'm using this venue. You asked about my hill -- and you can see what's happening with it in two postings right here on YardShare. One is called "The Challenge of a hill . . ." and the other is "Summer's End in New England." Both show the progress I've been making. It'll be a long time, though, until I reach the fullness of your spectacular gardens! Anyway, I just keep dividing and transplanting, but I'm sad to see the end of the season coming.

Teresa and Myself are original wis. born and raised...me in Owen and Teresa in Appleton. I do miss that zone 4...never thought of that as a nice warm zone when we grew there...but your perienial garden you just made is full of our old freinds and blossoms...thank-you for the walk back home!!....Gary

Happy Spring. How is your weather, the first day of Spring? We have rain, which should take care of the couple of patches of snow that is still hanging on. After I am done with my tea & cookies, I will be heading downstairs and potting up some annuals that I rooted. I also need to transplant some borage and basal seedlings. What are you doing? Hi Lark,Happy Spring to you, too. We had a beautiful, sunny day today, though a bit on the chilly side. I spent most of it cleaning up the garden, cutting back the dead stalks from last year and uncovering some of the plants that have started coming up. (I'm always afraid that I'm doing that too soon and that we'll get another snow storm or bitterly cold weather, but I'm just itching to get out there and get things moving!)I admire your ambition, starting seedlings and building your hoop houses -- I just let Nature give me new seedlings and sometimes scatter some of the seeds that I gathered in the fall. I've reached a point now where the size of my garden has reached the limit of my ability to maintain it properly -- though I'm always fighting the temptation to constantly expand it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!Good to hear from you ...Ellie
