Toni Capito in Clayton actually has a front porch, a back porch, and two side porches. This decking wraps around her house like fashionable wooden Ray-Bans. Pair a huge house with an enormous flat yard, and you’ve got a project that’s going to take some extensive landscaping.
Why not create a garden of sensuous scents? A small plot in your yard devoted to only flowers that titillate the nose, that make you breathe so deeply that you’re transported to a more restful, heavenly place.
Some parents (and grandparents) really go all out in turning their backyard into a super-fantastic playground for their progeny. These projects no doubt cost a pretty penny, but it’s worth it to pry kids loose from their X-Box long enough to actually get some physical activity.
Sometimes, when the chips are down, all you’ve got is the quarter acre plot of land you call home. If that’s the case, you may start feeling a bit protective about your little slice of property. That’s the time to consider adding some medieval touches to your landscape design.

When we think of potting up some plants for our home or garden, we often think of the traditional clay pots or the lighter-weight, clay-colored, plastic pots. But have some fun, use your imagination, and come up with some unique, untraditional containers for your plants.
The first thing of course is the seed. I use “Daneli Seeds, Anchorage”, which has a cabbage called OS Hybrid Cross. We grow much larger cabbages in Alaska because of the long, long hrs of daylight…20 hrs of direct sun in June!
Whether your yard is naturally sloped or if you want to add height as a design ploy, terraces offer a very flexible landscaping solution. They’ve been used for thousands of years in disciplines ranging from agriculture to architecture.
