Big snow... BROKEN tree... what to do now?

When I planted Liquid Amber trees in my Fairy Garden I wasn't expecting so much snow at 1000' elevation. In November the main trunk of largest of the 3 trees in my little grove broke off completely. Being new to snow country I have no idea if it worth leaving in the ground.

If anyone has seen a tree similar in size and shape recover gracefully from such a blow from Mother Nature please let me know.

Should I clean up the break just below the tear or a little further down the trunk?

Any input would be appreciatedClick image for larger version
