    ORNAMENTAL KALE

Ornamental kale is on my WANT LIST this Spring. Could you please give me some advise and suggestions on how to grow this beautiful late season bloomer? I am in Wisconsin zone 4/5. Thank you.

    Smiles, Lark

Did you grow the kale? I have grown the veggie ones for the animals. I always wanted to try the walking stick kale.

Yes, I grew about 30 plants. They were absolutely GORGEOUS and I will grow them again. I tried to put a picture of it on this reply but I can't get it. Come visit my website www.larksperennials.com I think you might enjoy adding to our conversation.

Start ornamental kale seeds six to 10 weeks before frost is expected to set in. If you live in northern climates, start the process in June. Southern climates should wait until mid-July.
Also put the plants in a fertile flower bed or a container filled with potting mix. Dig a hole deep enough for the bottom tier of leaves to touch the soil. Fill in around the roots and press down lightly to remove air pockets
