You can always set patio furniture right off the corner of the side of the house and the back of the house,(like caddy corner or something like that) so that when you are sitting/entertaining you can see the pool and the back of the house. This way it doesn't feel like the pool is lost or out of place. Some colorful low maintenance flowers, even potted ones behind the patio set right up to the pool so that it feel cozier and more connected.

Good spot for the pool. You should dig up that area you are walking by,and put in a garden.I dug up the area by my garage and planted tomatoes, marigold, lions tail, and buckwheat.
