The yard was overgrown with weeds, trees, tons of leaves and more weeds. We have started to clear the dead trees, remove weeds, leaves, and debris. We have a long way to go, but we would love to have a beautiful backyard "retreat" with great landscaping, wildflowers and a garden.

Comments / Questions

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments you made on my back yard today. I know how overwhelming it can be when just starting out. The yard we are working on now looks like your space. It is 3.25 acres with nothing ever done to it. My recommendation to you is try to come up with an overall plan and then work in small sections until you achieve your vision. Especially if you are doing it all yourself. Red clay isn't to hard to deal with. We have brought in truckloads of planting mix to combine with the clay with great success. A truckload at a time as we could afford. It is worth the money. Also, you stated you had lots of leaves that had never been racked up. Just dig them into the clay and they will add nutrients and help attract earth worms that will help enhance your soil. We throw all our grass clippings and leaves on the flower beds to be dug in. Helps cut down on the amount of planting mix we need. Your lot has lots of potential. Just go at it slowly and make it fun.
I would be happy to answer any questions if you want to contact me.

This is my yard. I would appreciate any help or suggestions or even encouragement. I really want to see this yard go from terribly overgrown and lackluster to terrifically cultivated and outstanding. Any help would be appreciated. We are working on the lawn. We have wildflowers that will soon appear over by the tree stump and we have sprayed weed killer on the weeds that we hope to knock out and clean up.
