Renee and Mike's Dump
A skinny one-third acre in the suburbs, Sunset Zone 19, USDA 8b/9, Southern California. I have been working on the yard since 1989, when I was a starving student. In 2000 Mike and I married, and the yard became a garden. We do everything the hard way.

Wonderful yard and garden -- obviously a labor of love -- and certainly worthy of more 'inspired' votes.
It looks like Middle Earth. Or the setting for a James Bond movie - you know, the part where he picks up the hot girl at the fancy resort.

Any chance of squeezing in a live view of your garden? My wife and I are going to take in 3 southern California gardens in 3 days, 2 nights. We'll start Wednesday, July 9 at the Huntington in San Marino. Then down to Laguna Beach to see the Hortense Miller garden Thursday morning and lunch at the nearby Sherman Library and garden before zipping up to Santa Barbara Friday morning to tour Lotusland. I'm a new fan of your garden, one of the best I've seen on this site. I like your garden's lofty name too ;) If you don't mind my asking, can you tell me how you load more than 10 photos on this site?
Wow, what a lot of work you've put in. Loved all your flower gardens, but expecially the color combinations in picture #18. n
Thank you, all of you, fo such kind comments. I had a case of garden burn-out this week and I just could not get myself to go out there and face the weeds and the pruning chores, but after reading your comments I was re-energized. Tomorrow, the canna lilies!

After seeing your yard, I am so glad that I found this website. You have packed a punch in this small space that is outstanding. If I die tomorrow and go to heaven, this is what I hope to find.
Lark, you make me feel like a million bucks. I had to take out the firestick plant because it got so huge. Do you have photos of your yard on this site?
Yes, I have photos on this sight. I am new to YardShare and I am still trying to understand everything. Smiles, Lark
Your yard is absolutely beautiful. your gardens and pathways are wonderful, Love the pond, and the walkways. You can tell you put a lot of thought and work into your yard, it shows, you should be proud.
Beautiful cottage look to your gardens. Your succulents are gorgeous...I have to bring some of those inside for my Wisconsin Winters. All your paths wind you through magical scenery. I also like all the stone you have used. The potting area is so quaint. This Spring I bought one of those Fireplant Pencil Cactus, I think it is in your picture 25. Ofcourse I brought it in for the Winter. Thank you for sharing your paradise. Smiles, Lark
