New Orleans Courtyard
The goal for this project was to convert a small townhome backyard into an additional living space. The redesigned area would to be used as an outdoor retreat as well as a space for entertaining. One of the clients had lived in New Orleans and both were very fond of the architecture and gardens in this old city. The new courtyard incorporates plants with a tropical feel and new hardscape materials which were carefully matched to the existing brick privacy walls. The HVAC unit was moved to an enclosed area, which was built outside the courtyard. In addition, a custom fence was added to enclose the courtyard. Similar fencing was used inside the courtyard to conceal the grill and serve as additional storage.
