The Yards That Have Inspired Us

I posted my yard on Rate My Space and someone suggested that I should post it here. So here you go ... We live in Florida and landscaping is sometimes difficult because of the hot, dry, humid conditions. But, I wanted to create a unique look for our home and have designed and labored to bring it to where it is now. We really enjoy the back mostly.

I've been an organic gardener my whole life - my father (95 years young now) taught me everything I needed to know. Now I mostly have flower gardens and a garden pond. I use only organic fertilizer - find my favorite at the website below.

Its our house and the gardens surround it. We also have the Goldstream creek running thru our backyard and have moose as fall garden clean up crew. We also have frost in every month but June and July so we have to garden with hardy plants and fast growers.we have 8 total gardens

We've tried to use colors on our house that reflect coastal living -- the soft grays and whites of gulls and the blues and greens of the sea. I designed and planted all of the gardens myself -- it's been a 10-year labor of love.

1 & 1/2 acre yard set in hillside with forested area. Parking set up for guests with iron gate and stone pillars. Many meditation areas and a tree house in the forest. Pathways throughout, peacefully transitioning from one space to the next. Large working vegetable garden with deer fencing and large compost staging area. BBQ, dining and entertainment area on deck . Arches, walls, and planters all

This is my front yard. I took out all the landscaping from the builder and re-did it myself. I am an amateur, but love garden and do not mind hard work. This took 100's of bags of sand and rocks to get the look. It's clean and very manageable to maintain.

My husband & I have lived in the forest since 2006 and we are in the process of embellishing our property. My DRAGONFLY FOREST GARDEN will be a playfully lush place for dragonflies, fairies and grandchildren. I will add photos as we make progress on a project that will probably take many, many years to complete. Janet Drake

A melange of plants that strike my fancy. With emphasis on great foliage first.

My husband and I created our landscape design and did all of the labor. I like to update the look by changing out the flowers in the pots.
