Grass problems

by  Erika K Bottini (0 posts) in Lawn Care on Apr 7, 2010 at 2:03 pm.

I have three dogs and of course I am having issues with grass growing in my back yard.  Is there a type of grass that is pet friendly and high traffic friendly so I can have a lawn in my back yard?  If so what do I need to do to get one \"other than getting rid of my dogs\"

If you cannot catch the dog in the act and 1) attempt to train the dog(s) to do business elsewhere and/or 2) water the spot immediately, then the only solution is to keep them off, block access, etc.  The grass turns because of the nitrogen in the urine.  If you can neutralize the spot with water immediately (within an hour) the grass will actually thrive in that spot.

I had grass and a dog in my backyard and chose to go the concrete route and redesigned the yard, check it out...
